Why 3.0?
Voice communications are hot.
In 2009 alone mergers and acquisitions in the voice space have been hot, despite an overall weak economy. Big business is no longer the only one benefiting directly from innovation in the voice industry. A bevy of services geared towards consumers (Google Voice, Ribbit Mobile, etc.) and web developers (Twilio, Tropo, Cloudvox, etc.) have launched recently to bring disruptive cloud communications to new markets.
This period of disruption and post-VoIP activity deserves its own name, as everyone wonders, speculates, and salivates over which voice company will be the next Skype.
